Germany v Portugal: Preview and prediction – 16.06.2014

By on June 15, 2014
One of the most interesting matches at World Cup 2014 in group stage will be this one, between Germany and Portugal. The game will take place monday evening from 17:00 and it will be the first one for these two team at the tournament.
Germany starts with the first chance if we talk about bookmakers. Lahm and his team-mates come after a great win in the last friendly game, 6-1 against Armenia after 0-0 at Half Time. Last time when Germany lost a game as in June 2013, 3-4 against USA. Germany will probably play in a 4-2-3-1 formation, Gotze being the main striker in the probable lineup at the moment. Schweinsteiger could miss the game, the midfield being in doubt and may not be risked.
Portugal has no missing players right now and Cristiano Ronaldo will be fit to play from the first minute this game. Portugal destroyed Ireland in the last friendly match five days ago, 5-1. The Lusitania side is in a good form, proof that the team comes after eight matches without defeat, ticking six wins and two draws. We expect Varela and Almeida to partner Cristiano Ronaldo in the attack for this game.
These two teams met last time in 2012. Germany managed to win that match, 1-0 at Euro 2012. Euro 2008 was also a reason for them to face each other, Germany winning that match too, 3-2.
Germany probable lineup:
Howedes  – Mertesacker – Hummels – Durm
Lahm – Khedira
Muller – Ozil – Podolski
Portugal probable lineup:
Patricio – Pereira – Alves – Pepe – Coentrao
Meireles – Carvalho – Moutinho
Varela – Almeida – Ronaldo
Prediction: Both teams to score @ 1.91 – Bet now!
We trust those teams attacks and we expect goals from both sides. Germany has quality on every position so there is no need to tell more about it, while Portugal, with Ronaldo on the pitch, could score anytime too.
The best odds for Germany vs Portugal: 2.20 – 3.30 – 3.80
