On the back of their recent win over Everton at the Stamford Bridge, Chelsea fans worldwide will have more to smile about especially as prolific winger, Eden Hazard has extended his contract with the club. Barring any future contingencies, the new deal is expected to keep the Belgian at the club until the summer of 2020. The deal will also allay the fears of many supporters who have been worried about the possibility of Hazard joining French big spenders, PSG as several news sources have indicated.
Both club and player have been holding talks over a new deal in the last few months and reports started filtering in that the deal is likely to close in a matter of days. In fact during a recent press conference, manager, Jose Mourinho had jokingly said that the only thing delaying Hazard’s deal was a nice pen which he needed to go and buy. Apparently the Chelsea boss has found time to purchase his pen and Hazard will remain at the Stamford Bridge for another 5 years at least.
While speaking to the club’s official website, the former Lille wingman revealed how happy he was to have extended his contract with his current employers, he further explained that since he arrived at the club a little over 2 years ago, he has continuously enjoyed the support of the club and the fans. He stated that his major aim is to ensure that the supporters derive maximum pleasure from his style of play and each time they show appreciation for his efforts, he is always satisfied.
The Belgian international is appreciative of José Mourinho’s support over the years and hopes to repay the confidence that the club has in him by helping the team win lots of trophies. For now, Hazard has his sights set on the League Cup at the Wembley stadium and hopes that more laurels will follow.
