Italy v Azerbaijan: Tips and prediction – 10.10.2014

By on October 9, 2014

Italy have only one option against Azerbaijan this Friday from 21:45. They need to win the all three points to remain on the first place in Group H. The game is part of the second fixture of Euro 2016 Qualifications.

Italy, without Balotelli, left home by the new coach, Antonio Conte, managed to win without any problems the first game of this campaign, 2-0 away against Norway. Conte called Graziano Pelle from Southampton for the first time at the national football team, while Balotelli was left home once again. This is a normal thing considering that Pelle scored five goals in Premier League so fay, while Balo scored only one in UCL. Conte will be without Paletta, Barzagli, Giuseppe rossi and Montolivo, all injured, but Pirlo and De Rossi are both back from injuries.

Azerbaijan could not expect too many things from a match like this one, considering that they are the 5th team in this group at first view. The away team have lost the first game, 1-2 against Bulgaria at home, so they are on the 4th place at the moment. We will probably see a 4-1-4-1 formation from them, with Qarayev between the defence and midfield line. There are no missing players from Azerbaijan.

Italy won the both games against Azerbaijan so far, 2-0 away in September 2002 and 4-0 in front of their own fans one year later.

Italy vs Azerbaijan probable lineups:

Italy (3-5-2): Buffon – Ranocchia, Bonucci, Chiellini – Candreva, Marchisio, Pirlo, Rossi, Sciglio – Zaza, Immobile.
Azerbaijan (4-1-4-1): Agayev – Shukurov, Sadigov, Huseynov, Budak – Qarayev – Dadashov, Huseynov, Amirquliyew, Nadirov – Aliyev.

Prediction: Over 2.5 goals @ 1.40

There are many differences between these two sides, Italy being the superior side from every point of view. We expect a clear victory form Conte’s team, and also at least three goals, considering that Italy have a good quality in attack and at midfield.

The best odds for Italy vs Azeribaijan: 1.10 – 11.00 – 34.00
