Leverkusen vs Atletico Madrid: Tips and prediction – 25.02.2015

By on February 24, 2015
Bayer Leverkusen and Atletico Madrid will be face to face Wednesday evening from 19:45, UK Time in the first leg of the last 16 round in UCL. The odds are very balanced, Atletico starting a little in pole-position.

The german side is not in an excellent form right now, proof that Leverkusen won only one game of the last five, all in 2015. They have some real problems in defence, with eight goals conceded in the last three matches from Bremen, Wolfsburg and Augsburg. Bayer Leverkusen ticked only three draws and two defeats in the last five home games, the last victory here being at the end of November. Kruse is injured, while Toprak will miss the game too, due to a suspension.

Atletico Madrid managed to win very clear few days ago in La Liga against Almeria, 3-0, but their chances for the title are no the same as last year when they won it. The last edition runners-up are coming here to get a good result and to make their mission easier in the second leg. We have to specify that Simeone’s team won only one away match of the last five. Koke and Tiago are in doubt and may not be risked.

Bayer Leverkusen vs Atletico Madrid probable lineups:
Leverkusen (4-2-3-1): Leno – Donati, Spahic, Papadopoulos, Wendell – Rolfes, Castro – Bellarabi, Calhanoglu, Son – Drmic.
Atletico Madrid (4-4-2): Moya – Juanfran, Miranda, Godin, Siqueira – Turan, Gabi, Suarez, Niguez – Griezmann, Mandzukic.

Prediction: X2 @ 1.38
Considering that Leverkusen are in a bad form at the moment, and the away team seems to be the superior side, we expect Atletico to get at least a draw in Germany this week.
The best odds for Leverkusen vs Atletico Madrid: 3.20 – 3.20 – 2.50
