Liverpool vs FC Basel: Tips and prediction – 09.12.2014

By on December 9, 2014
The final for the 2nd place in Group B will take place Tuesday evening from 19:45 (UK Time) at Anfield Road. Liverpool will play their last chance to qualify in the next round against FC Basel.

The Reds have to win all three points here, otherwise they will probably go in Europa League. Liverpool managed to win only four points out of 15 this campaign and their goal difference is a shameful one, with four goals scored and eight conceded. Flanagan, Sturridge, Suso, Balotelli and Sakho are still missing due to some injuries and this is a very important thing. Gerrard will probably be played behind the striker again, while Kolo Toure and Lucas are expected to keep their starting places.

FC Basel need at least a draw in England to be 100% sure about their qualification place. The swiss have six points in their account and a 6-7 goal difference after five matches, being on the second place in Group B. Basel will be without Streller and Ivanov, both injured, while Sio is in doubt. We will see a 4-3-3 formation from the guests, with Delgado leading the attacking line, being supported by Gonzalez and Gashi on the flanks.

FC Basel won the first leg against Liverpool, 1-0 at home, after they controlled the whole game in front of their own fans.

Liverpool vs Basel probable lineups:
Liverpool (4-2-3-1): Mignolet – Johnson, Toure, Skrtel, Enrique – Lucas, Allen – Henderson, Gerrard, Sterling – Lambert.
Basel (4-3-3): Vaclik – Degen, Schar, Suchy, Safari – Diaz, Frei, Zuffi – Gonzalez, Delgado, Gashi.

Prediction: Both teams to score – Yes @ 1.73
Liverpool will attack and they could neglect the defence. More than that, their defence is not the strongest point. Basel could strike on the counter attack so we recommand you to bet on goals from both teams.
The best odds for Liverpool vs FC Basel: 1.75 – 3.80 – 5.25
