Montoya tidies exit plans
It has been confirmed that another player is considering a move out of the Nou Camp in no distant time. Martin Montoya’s agent has stated that the player will hand in a transfer request pretty soon despite his improved game time this year. The player’s contract is on its last lap and his agent had hinted around December that his client would switch sides during the January transfer window after featuring only once for Barcelona between August and December, 2014.
Luis Enrique appear to have certain plans of his own seeing as he handed Montoya 4 starts out of the club’s last five matches implying that the club might not be interested in offloading him just yet. While the player’s agent, Juan Dios Carrasco may have been pleased with Luis Enrique’s decision to hand his client more game time, the player has already set his sights towards the gates of the club and it seems that the attempts of the manager have come quite late.
Carrasco expressed satisfaction particularly as the club responded to their letter by featuring his client more but insists that his client’s idea to leave the club is still fresh on his mind. The agent revealed that in the coming days, he will be discussing with the new sporting director at the club to find the solution that will be in Montoya’s best interest.
If Montoya hands in a transfer request, he will not stay long on the shelf as Juventus are believed to be seriously interested in the defender’s services and according to his agent, a couple of German and English clubs are also lining up a bid to price him away from Spain. Barcelona will have to be weary of Montoya’s exit plans as their other right back Dani Alves is also expected to quit the club this summer or could Enrique be banking on his summer signing Douglas to come through in the right-back?
