Netherlands v Mexico: Tips and prediction – 29.06.2014

By on June 28, 2014
The third match in the last 16 round of Fifa World Cup 2014 will put Netherlands and Mexico in the centre of attention. This game will take place Sunday evening from 05:00 pm and it will be very interesting.

Netherlands won the Group B with nine points out of nine, beating Spain (5-1), Australia (3-2) and Chile (2-0). Netherlands has five victories in the last five games and the team is in a very good form. Robben and van Persie will start together in attack and the expectations are very big from them, altough Netherlands will face the best deffence of the tournament until now. Both players previously mentioned are in the run for World Cup Top Scorer, with three goals for each. Blind is the player with most assists, three in the first three games.

Mexico is a strong team that finished second in Group A, with the same number of points as Brazil but the south-american side was better at goal difference. Dos Santos & co ticked two wins and a draw in group stage, conceiding only one goal, that’s why we can tell you that Mexico has the best defence. Their best player was the central defender, Rafa Marquez. Mexico is without victory against Netherlands in its history.

To be more precise, these two teams were face to face three times in the last 16 years. At Fifa World Cup 1998 they draw 2-2 in group stage. After that, in 2006 Netherlands won 2-1 a friendly game against Mexico, the same score being recorded in 2010 too in another friendly.

Prediction: Netherlands (Draw no bet) @ 1.44
Brazil won’t risk too much, while Chile will try to score on counter-attack. We expect a tight game and we will be surprise to see more than three goals in a match like this one.
The best odds for Netherlands vs Mexico: 2.10 – 3.50 – 3.80
