Tevez crucial in Juventus title quest – Allegri

Ahead of his sides Serie A clash against Atalanta, Jeventus boss, Massimiliano Allegri has underlined Carlos Tevez’s importance in the club’s quest to win two or more silverware this season. In the course of this season, the former Manchester City man has been of awesome form registering a whopping 14 goals from 21 games so far this season. The manager however feels that his team should be able to secure victories with or without the prolific striker.

The Argentine point man was on suspension and as a result missed the tie against Cesena. Juventus could only manage a 2-2 draw but Allegri believes that with Tevez back in the squad, he will be able to bring some lethalness as they approach the more critical stages of the season.

While speaking at a recent press conference ahead of the Atalanta clash, the manager revealed that the Argentine is a crucial player but also noted that the team should have been able to see off Cesena despite his absence. The manager noted that the team will have to take responsibility for the poor outing at Cesena and hopes that the match will serve as a lesson for the younger members of the team.

The manager stressed in no flimsy term that the race for this year’s Scudetto is far from over despite the Old Lady having a commanding 7 points advantage over second placed Roma. He explained that there are still several games to play and pointed out that Juventus have already dropped more points than necessary this season. It means that if they were to lose 2 matches and Roma were able to get wins, their 7 points edge could shrink to a solitary point.

Noting how calculative the Atalanta squad is, the Juventus boss believes that his team’s success will boil down to how intensive their style of play is.
